College Football week 2 is in the books and we have a number of upsets already... Alabama, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin join TCU, LSU, Clemson, and Baylor as teams who have already been upset. It's time to put respect on Quinn Ewers' name!
Texas' pass catchers put on a clinic in Tuscaloosa in their double digit win over Alabama, with JaTavion Sanders, AD Mitchell and Xavier Worthy crossing the 75 yard receiving mark. If you're a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the biggest concern should be the lack of discipline exhibited with 10 penalties that cost them a total of 90 yards and extended drives for the Longhorns. On another note, Jalen Milroe threw 2 interceptions, both into double coverage that resulted in a total of 10 points for Texas, which could have entirely changed the outcome of the game.
Notre Dame set the tone against NC State behind the legs of Audric Estime after a slow start. The Irish defense forced 3 interceptions and Sam Hartman continued to do Sam Hartman things, throwing for 4 touchdowns. Notre Dame is a team to continue to keep an eye on as the season progresses. With games on the horizon against USC and Ohio State, the Irish could solidify themselves as true college football playoff contenders.
Utah found a backdoor win over Baylor after an abysmal showing. The Utes are in desperate need of QB Cam Rising back in the offense after not scoring a single TD until the 4th quarter, where they scored the tying the TD and game winning TD. On that same token, they nearly allowed Baylor to tie it on the last play of the game, on a play that could have easily been called Pass Interference. Regardless, the Utes are unblemished and still have all of their goals in front of them as they look to 3-peat in the Pac12 and make a push for the college football playoffs.
Bo Nix is everything that Oregon could ask him to be. Nix threw for 359 yards, 2 TDs, and no interceptions on the Duck's way to a 38-30 struggle win over Texas Tech. Similar to Alabama, penalties were the heel for Oregon. They had 14 infractions costing them 124 yards, which allowed the Red Raiders to hang around until the last minute of the game. Bucky Irving was effectively shut down, rushing for only 38 yards. However, Oregon is still undefeated and knocking on the door of the top 10. They'll see Colorado at home in two weeks in their first Pac12 matchup of the season.
